Preschool

(2 ½ – 4 years)

(4 – 5 years)

Our preschool program follows the guidelines of the Early Learning For Every Child Today (ELECT) Framework. Each month, RECE teachers select a theme/concept learning that best reflects the class’s interests and developmental strengths and weaknesses. From there, weekly program is planned:

  • Language and Communication
  • Mathematics/Cognitive and Cooking
  • Bible stories, Praise and Worship and monthly Bible Memory Verses
  • Science and Discovery
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Dramatic play
  • Sensory play
  • Block play

All of the above set up is found throughout the day that promotes skills such as problem solving, phonetic and number awareness, reasoning, rational and rote counting, classifying, matching and fine motor development, etc.

With the ratio of 1 teacher to 8 children, learning is made interactive by having small and large group times throughout the day. Our preschool program ensures preschoolers to have joyful, appropriate, and meaningful learning experiences that lead to success in school and in life.

Language: We believe in building our children up with the foundation of language and communication skills. Children learn to make the connection between sounds and prints: print concepts, alphabet recognition, and phonemic awareness. Children are also practicing public speaking to communicate their thoughts through “Show and Tell”, etc.

Mathematics/Cognitive: We promote mathematical thinking and basic math concepts such as shapes, numbers, opposites, sorting, lacing, and beading through all kinds of simple hands-on activities and self-help skills training.

Bible: By bible story, daily prayers, worship songs and monthly bible verses, these allow children to explore God’s characters and love for all of His children. Reciting monthly Bible Verses will reinforce Children to memorize God’s word.

Science and Discovery: Each week children are challenged to use their critical thinking with our weekly science activity and discovery learning based on the theme of the week. Through hands-on materials and multisensory experiments, children can develop the skills in observation, classification, predicting outcome and communicating their ideas to others.

Arts and Crafts: Daily arts and crafts are provided to promote and stimulate eye-hand coordination, fine motor skills, imagination and creativity of our preschoolers by gluing, cutting, drawing, decorating and painting.

Dramatic play: Objects and items that related to a particular theme will be set up in the dramatic centre for children to explore and develop their fantasies. Dramatic and pretend play encourages social cooperation and therefore enhances social development. Furthermore, dramatic play also provides children opportunity to learn about different cultures: differences, similarities, and diversity, etc.  It encourages acceptance and helps build bridges between children and their different cultures.

Sensory play: Sensory table activities are implemented that helps children learn through their five senses while they play and explore the materials. Sensory play is available for children through out the day.

Build and constructive play: Build and construct center allows children to use their creativity, imagination, spatial skills, divergent problem solving and math skills with the use of toys, different kinds of blocks and recycled materials.
